Integrated Healthcare
MSW students interested in gaining knowledge and skills in the rapidly growing field
of integrated healthcare have an opportunity to pursue a focus area. This includes
an integrated healthcare course (SOCW 530), an online interprofessional education
module, special interprofessional education experiences, and a two semester specialization
year field placement in an integrated healthcare setting.
A stipend of up to $25,000 may be available to eligible students. The Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training for Professionals (BHWET-Pro) grant-supported stipend program at WCU is federally funded through HRSA.
It is for students who will serve the population of children, adolescents, young
adults (ages 16-25) and their families during their training and who will commit to
post-graduation work with that population in rural, medically underserved communities
in Western North Carolina or with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
MSW graduates with a focus in integrated healthcare are prepared to immediately enter
health related careers offering whole person care.
